I’ve entered a Full Distance Triathlon

This year, I did my first triathlon – the Outlaw Holkham Half; 1.2 mile swim in the lake, 56 mile cycle and 13.1 mile run, consisting of 3 laps around the grounds of Holkham hall in the heat. Holkham has a really nasty hill in it’s grounds – we had to run up that 3 times.

I loved it far more than I thought I would do. I am not a triathlete – I am a runner. But this was an endurance challenge that I loved.

This was always about the bigger race – the full distance triathlon. 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile cycle, 26.2 mile run. If I liked the half distance then I’d seriously think about a full distance before I was too old.

So with that in mind I entered the Outlaw Half in Nottingham that takes place in May – this was entered as a warm up for the full distance. When entries for that opened this week I entered it. So 2018 is going to be a busy big year. April is London Marathon (Good For Age place), May will be Nottingham half, and July will be the full distance triathlon. To finish the year off I’ve also entered the SVP 50K – a trail ultra in Suffolk.

All I’ve got to do now is mend my broken foot and train – hard!!
